BEIJING: German Foreign Minister yesterday said the situation in Libya could not be solved through military action.

Guido Westerwelle instead called for a ceasefire when the Nato campaign was launched air strikes against the military.


Westerwelle was speaking after talks with his counterparts from China, Yang Jiechi in Beijing.

He was in Beijing for an official visit to Japan before.


"There is only a political solution and we must mobilize the political process. It can begin with a ceasefire to be followed Gaddafi to allow the peace process started, "he told reporters.
